Corporate Safety Initiatives

Practical Training Initiatives

Columbia Power is committed to a safety culture. Each year, along with opportunities for formal safety training, Columbia Power employees are provided with practical safety training to ensure they are prepared for any situation. Initiatives include:

  • Flat tire changing 101
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Avalanche awareness training
  • Bear spray proper usage training
  • Winter driving / defensive driving training

Along with the practical training, each staff member is also provided with proper Person Protection Equipment (PPE), ice cleats, sunscreen, bug spray and water to help protect them when in the field.

Formal Training Initiatives

Columbia Power provides each employee with formal training opportunities which include but are not limited to:

  • First Aid training
  • Electrical awareness training
  • Swift water rescue training
  • Site orientation training
  • Working alone / in isolation

Awareness Initiatives

Each year Columbia Power participates in and promotes the North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH) by holding specific safety meetings along with providing games and training to help raise safety awareness in the workplace.
